Tonights special guest is John Mark Clubb from New York City, child abuse survivor, activist, speaker and author. As a boy growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, he endured years of abuse by his parents. John tried to find refuge in the regimentation of a distinguished 22 year military career and in multiple marriages. But his efforts to deal with the trauma of his experiences led him on a self-destructive path that left a trail of broken people and dreams. He now works as a commercial pilot for a major airline. In 2009, Mr. Clubb published "Boys Cry Too," a seminal account of his sexual abuse by his father, a former Baptist minister, and the physical abuse by his mother. In the book he chronicles his hidden pain, negative echoes, self defeating behaviors, multiple negative relationships with both men and women and finally the healing journey which lead him to the place where he was able to say, "I forgive you," to his abusers. In doing so he freed himself of the chains of his father's crimes against him. In his off time from flying airplanes, John Mark Clubb is an author, business owner, screenwriter, short story teller, playwright, competitive rower and father. His favorite expression is, "Abuse does not have to be a life sentence."
